The idea
Pip and Taka is a “BL” webcomic that was first brought to life in 2010, and found its way onto the internet in 2011.
I started writing it since I started becoming bored of reading LGBTQ+ comics which all seem to follow the same the formula.. I felt I needed to mix it up a bit and write a story which felt a little more.. True to life π
Unfortunately, being a part of this community isn’t always sunshine and rainbows, which is usually depicted in most comics tackling the genre.
The story (chapters 1-3)
This story revolves around Pipkin (Pip), an 18 year old college student who has been bullied all of his life for his white hair colour and uncommon name. When we meet him, he is also silently mourning the death of a dear friend.
One day a new student joins Pip’s class, 19 year old Moritaka (Taka), originally from Japan, but is now living with his aunt in the UK. He takes an immediate interest in Pip, since he stands out for being so different to the other students.
Pip is shy at first, but slowly warms up to Taka and the two boys create a wonderful friendship, which leads to Taka moving into Pip’s flat and the boys getting even closer.
Pip also has a best female friend, Liz, who has known him since they were kids. With a little help from Taka, Pip asks her out and she accepts. Taka is left secretly regretting his decision to help Pip out and becomes very jealous of Liz.
The jealousy consumes him almost completely and one night, at his lowest, he comes out to Pip and tells him that he has fallen in love with him.
Pip doesn’t quite know how to feel about this and the real story then begins!
Character designs
It’s kind of funny, but Pip and Taka’s character designs were actually based on a couple who I created on The Sims 2 π
A friend let be borrow their college expansion disk, so I tried it out and created 2 student Sims who very quickly became best friends and then without even meaning to, turned into the most lovey-dovey couple I’d ever created. I tweaked some things, but They also originally had each others names (something I do not regret changing π).
Their personalities changed a lot though, I even started putting a lot of myself into Pip, so this poor boy who was once so chirpy is now drowning in depression and anxiety.. Sorry, Pippy π₯²
Website History
I learned how to code in my teens and used to build simple websites for fun, I was even a part of the pixel website boom! For anyone who remembers that- Yeah, I had many ‘affs’ and everyone wanted to adopt my creepy but cute pixels π
Anyway, this is what the original P+T site used to look like-

As you can see, it lasted until 2016, so it had a good run. I wish I could be more creative with this site, without having to pay extra..orz
